FEP Heat Shrink

New Offering! 8 stocked sizes and customizable options!

FEP Heat Shrinkable Tubing

FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) heat shrink tubing is provided in it’s expanded state and molds tightly over both regular and irregular shapes after a brief application of heat. FEP offers good flexibility, optical clarity, high lubricity and is a cost-effective alternative to other heat shrink options.

Within the medical industry, heat shrink is most often used as a manufacturing aid for catheter reflow and tipping operations, but may also be used for strain relief termination, insulation, encapsulation, and as a protective layer against heat, moisture, abrasion, and corrosion for a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive, and industrial electrical.

All heat shrink tubing manufactured by New England Tubing Technologies is manufactured in a clean room environment meeting the criteria of ISO 14644-1:2015 Class 8. This provides critical contamination control and elimination of environmental variables that could adversely affect the manufacturing process, thus providing a high level of quality assurance.

Shrink Ratios

Shrink ratio is a value that indicates how much a heat shrink tube will reduce in size when exposed to heat. It is a comparison between the tubing’s original size and it’s final, shrunk size.

For example: a 0.160” expanded ID heat shrink with a 1.6:1 shrink ratio will be 0.100” recovered ID after heat shrinking is complete.

Larger shrink ratios can cover a wider range of sizes as well as convoluted and irregular shapes. More uniform parts require smaller heat shrink ratios for complete coverage.

Properties of FEP Heat Shrink:

  • Lower Shrink Temps
  • Chemical Resistance
  • Lubricious
  • Excellent Dielectric Strength
  • 200° C Service Temp
  • Optically Clear
